Summary: Responsibilities include, but are not limited to, installing, repairing, and servicing mechanical or electrical locking devices using hand tools, power tools, and other special equipment. In addition, the successful candidate will be trained on the service and maintenance of security equipment, including alarm panels, access control, cameras, CCTV, drive up systems, and DVRs, as well as safe and vault work. Familiarity with the security industry a plus. 

Location: San Luis Obispo, CA

Duties and Responsibilities:

  1. Disassembles, repairs and/or replaces locks, such as padlocks, safe locks, vault locks, door locks, and teller locks.
  2. Repairs or replaces worn tumblers, springs and other parts, and inserts new or repaired tumblers into lock to change combination.
  3. Changes both electronic and mechanical lock combinations.
  4. Cuts new or duplicate keys using key cutting machine.
  5. Uses lock pick to open door locks without keys.
  6. Performs safe deposit box, safe, and vault drilling.
  7. Repairs and/or replaces SBD locks.
  8. Assists with installation/servicing of electronic and physical security products.
  9. Assists with installation/wiring of electronic equipment used in systems.
  10. Conducts site surveys upon request of management.
  11. Communicates important project status information to management and customers as necessary.
  12. Tests all installed/serviced equipment to ensure proper performance and compliance with customer's requirements.
  13. Accounts for all service and installation tools/equipment and all job parts/inventory.
  14. Completes and turns in all required paperwork in a timely manner according to established procedures and deadlines (e.g. timesheets, expense reports, change orders, equipment transfers, etc.).
  15. Maintains and controls assigned truck stock inventory in an organized manner.
  16. Maintains control, and safeguards, all company or customer property and information of which employee has been entrusted.
  17. Performs other related duties as assigned. 

Qualifications:

  • High School Diploma or GED equivalent.
  • 2-5 years of related locksmith experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • Locksmith certification a plus.
  • Experience with the service and maintenance of security equipment, including alarm panels, access control, cameras, CCTV, drive up systems, and DVRs.
  • Experience in safe and vault work.
  • Familiarity with the security industry a plus. 
  • Customer service experience is a plus.
  • Valid license and clean driving record.
  • Ability to lift up to 50lbs.
